Owl Reading Academy - Winter 2025 - Grade 1
In this one hour after school class, taught by Ms. Malinowski (grade 1 teacher), students will work with the IMSE Orton Gillingham program to explore phonics concepts and spelling patterns that will help them read and write. We will complete a three-part drill that includes visual, auditory/kinesthetic work, and blending. We will also read decodables utilizing the concept/spelling pattern learned in that session. Time permitting, students will complete dictation with concept words. All students will come home with a decodable each session that they can practice at home. Students in grades 1 & 2 will also receive syllabication practice they can do at home as well.
