Green Committee
Our goal is to make V-O a "greener" community by promoting programs focused on environmental preservation and conservation. The Green Committee primarily works with 4th and 5th graders to identify "green" issues throughout the year. We implement educational and environmental activities based on input and guidance from the Student Green Team. We welcome new ideas and energy to help our V-O community and especially our students become the “green” ambassadors they aspire to be. If you have any experience in the environmental field, please get in touch! Even if you don't have experience but are passionate about being "green," we would love your support.
Responsibilities include recruiting Student Green Team members at the beginning of each year, focusing on 4th and 5th graders, and coordinating meetings with students to identify "green" issues they want to address and promote throughout the year. We implement educational and environmental activities based on their input and collaborate with our Green Teacher Contact, Brighid Pierce, to maintain ongoing projects such as marker recycling at V-O.

Traffic Safety
Based on enrollment, if each family volunteers for one morning per year per student, we can cover the entire school year. We recognize that not all families may be able to volunteer, so any additional coverage is greatly appreciated! Traffic Safety Volunteers help move cars through the traffic loop while keeping students out of the traffic loop and on the sidewalk. Before arriving, please view the resources provided, including the V-O Traffic Safety 101 Video and the V-O Traffic Safety 101 Quick Reference, to ensure our students get to school safely each morning.
The committee facilitates volunteer sign-ups and ensures adequate coverage for each month. This includes coordinating distribution to the designated grade level each month and monitoring caregiver engagement.
